PROCESS NOTE
Correlation is key to my process. I see something. I dream something. I remember something. I invent something or someone. I combine the fragments in text and image in a unique way on the page. The goal is to make these correlations at the same time cohesive and surprising, so that, although it might be unsettling and not easily understood, it can be felt as deep rooted reflections that imply a collective experience. It’s storytelling where you can’t quite grasp the story, but it is somehow familiar.
Hybrid-Memoir-Pages-6-26-CombinedTim Petersen is an American Architect who has always been intrigued by the interaction of imagery and the written word. Recent life changes have spurred the rekindling of his exploration of hybrid prose poetry – defamiliarizing language, questioning grammar within it’s strictures and mirroring the recursive, circular workings of memory in a specific, visceral way, while crafting a cohesive visual language to enrich the meaning of texts.
A graduate of the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles, Tim profited from the nascent, cutting edge nature of this school to develop a lifelong interest in a multidisciplinary approach to design, art, literature and music as it relates to themes that reach beyond the boundaries of Architecture. Having had his own Architectural practice for over 20 years, he is looking forward to shifting his focus back into this lifelong passion.
