Curb of Inquiry by Andrew Seguin

I thought objects
into portents

but they were
not: empty

rum jug from Panama.
Crow, uppercut

by a gust.
Nothing but mind

having at
meaning. Meaning,

I am the man
of the house

who lives in
an apartment.

Our public space
closes at dusk.

I check the weather,
the weatherman’s been shot.
