Aquinnah Sub Rosa by Kristina Bicher

We were on a cliff we couldn’t see the edge of: naked
on night-grass, I on my right side, he on his back.
I fed him jam pie salted with the ocean’s white noise.
A rose-tide above and the voices of stones
buried beneath. Wild stars of white aster sprang
from our feet. Sub rosa amo. Once we get off this island
we will never speak.
