Poet, translator and essayist, Murat Nemet-Nejat grew up in Istanbul, came to the US to attend Columbia University and has lived in the New York area ever since. His publications include The Spiritual Life of Replicants (Talisman Publishers, 2011) and Animals of Dawn (Talisman Publishers, forthcoming in Fall of 2016), the translation of the Turkish poet Seyhan Erozçelik’s Rosestrikes and Coffee Grinds (Talisman Publishers, 2010) and the editing of Eda: An Anthology of Contemporary Turkish Poetry (Talisman Publishers, 2004) and the essays “Dear Charles, Letters from a Turk: Mayan Letters, Herman Meliville and Eda” (Spuyten Duyvil, 2016) and “Holiness and Jewish Rebellion:’Questions of Accent,’ Twenty Years Afterward” (University of Michigan Press, 2016). He is presently focusing on his new poetry, Camels and Weasels.
