When She Went into the Field by Julia Story

She went into the field
where there were no

syllables on the air.
Though it seemed open

it had a door, and words pushed
at her feet. These pieces shook

her to her ruins: a solid
string of thoughts and

ideas: let Jesus lie down
and sleep. The hedge wove

together all of the electricity
of the deep, and she went

into the person-shaped hut
that was her life.
